Gems Child Safety Standards
Effective date: 11 October 2026
These Child Safety Standards apply to the Gems app and website at svggems.com, published by SVG Gems. They set out our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and form part of the Gems Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
1. Zero tolerance
1.1 SVG Gems prohibits, without exception, any Content or conduct on Gems that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers children. A child is any person under the age of 18.
1.2 This includes, without limitation:
- child sexual abuse material of any kind, whether photographic, drawn, animated, computer-generated or produced with artificial intelligence;
- sexualised images, descriptions or comments about children;
- grooming, meaning any attempt to build a relationship with a child for the purpose of sexual contact or exploitation;
- sextortion, or any threat to share intimate images of a child;
- soliciting, arranging or advertising sexual contact with a child, or child trafficking; and
- sharing information that could be used to locate a child for the purpose of harming them.
2. Age requirements
You must be at least 16 to create a Gems Account. Gems is not directed to children. We close Accounts that we learn belong to someone under 16.
3. How we prevent and detect CSAE
3.1 Design. Gems has no private messaging between Members, does not store Members' exact locations, does not allow private homes on the public map, and lets every Member block any other Member.
3.2 Automated blocking. Text associated with child sexual abuse is blocked automatically before it can be published.
3.3 Reporting. Every Member can report any post, comment, photo, place, crew or profile from within the app. Anyone, including people without an Account, can report concerns to hello@svggems.com with "Child safety" in the subject line. Child safety reports are given the highest priority.
4. How we respond
When we become aware of Content or conduct that may involve CSAE, we will:
- remove the Content and restrict access to it immediately;
- permanently terminate the Accounts involved and take steps to prevent them from returning;
- preserve the relevant information securely for the purpose of reporting and any investigation, accessible only to the people handling the matter;
- report confirmed CSAM and credible CSAE threats to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, and to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline or another appropriate national or regional authority; and
- co-operate with law enforcement in accordance with the law and our Moderation, Appeals and Transparency Policy.
We do not notify the Account holder where doing so could prejudice an investigation or put a child at risk.
5. If a child is in danger
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact the police immediately on 999 or 911. Do not wait to report it to Gems, and do not download, copy or share any abusive material, even to report it.
6. Compliance with law
SVG Gems complies with the child protection laws that apply to it, including the Cybercrime Act, 2016 and the Criminal Code of St Vincent and the Grenadines, and with the child safety requirements of the app stores through which Gems is distributed.
7. Child safety contact
SVG Gems has designated a child safety point of contact who is responsible for these standards, receives reports and notifications about CSAE, and is able to explain and act on our enforcement and review procedures.
Contact: hello@svggems.com, subject line "Child safety".
